After our busy day yesterday, we all slept in until after 8 am! Which may not sound all that late, but considering I’ve been waking up at 5 am all week, it was wonderful!
We drove to the Jackson Lake Lodge in the late morning. While there, we had the opportunity to meet a park ranger who had a viewing scope and got to see a bull moose! They are apparently more elusive than the antelope, bison, elk and bear—so this was exciting!
After exploring the Lodge, we at lunch in the Pioneer Grill --which is set up like an old-fashioned lunch counter. We had seen this restaurant on a dvd about GTNP, so it was fun to actually eat here. We finished off our meal with a ‘Dusty Glacier’—that was definitely a dessert for more than one!
We spent some more time driving around the park looking for wildlife—and were rewarded with spotting elk, a mule deer and a black bear! It’s so funny because when you see a bunch of cars pulled of the side of the road and people pointing, you know there is some kind of wildlife nearby!
The girls (all 4 of us!) had fun browsing the shops and choosing a few souvenirs (and the guys waited patiently on us!). Emma bought a stuffed bison who she named “Jenny” after Jenny Lake. The rest of the day, we spent around our campsite—catching up on laundry, playing games, and relaxing. We have had no cell service and no internet connection all day, which has been a little frustrating. Hopefully we will get them back soon!
Tomorrow we head to Yellowstone for 4 days—we are praying for the weather to clear a bit but even if it doesn’t, we’ll make the best of it!
