From a Grand Canyon to a Grand Problem

Well Wendy is exhausted and has gone to bed so I thought I would post about our “Not so good” day today. Basically while we were driving through the Mojave Desert the RV started skipping and surging and basically I had to push the peddle to the floor just to get it to go 55 MPH. We called the road side service and no one can look at it until tomorrow. We decided to press on and drive straight to LA so we will be closer to a mechanic and also be a little ahead of schedule in case we have to wait a long time to get the RV checked out. We are staying at a KOA just outside of LA and will call the RV rental guy first thing in the morning. Pray that it’s nothing serious and we can get it fixed and back on the road tomorrow. We will keep you posted.

Day 6: Additional commentary by Wendy...

Yesterday we saw a whole lot of this:

And this:

The desert is H-O-T and D-R-Y and has a LOT of flies (as a side note-- I don't know how people-- well, girls-- manage their hair with this total lack of moisture in the air-- I can't believe I actually miss a little humidity!!). Yesterday was a little bit frustrating... okay... a LOT frustrating! But everything seems a little bit better after 7 consecutive hours of sleep (my first in a week!) and a hot shower. We did manage to end the day like this:

But even that required some 'doing'-- we had to climb over the locked gate to get into the pool (it was supposed to be open until 10 but was closed at 8:30! It had been a long day, we paid a lot for this last minute campground spot and we were going to swim, by George!!)

We are hanging out for a bit here in Pomona, CA waiting to see what the next step in our day will be-- hopefully we won't have to miss out on the Reagan Library and will make it to the Pacific Ocean in time to enjoy it.

Thanks again for everyone's prayers! We'll keep you posted as we know what is happening...

Thanks, Michael, for your update. It was wise for you to keep going so as to be close to an RV store. Terry and I will pray for a quick repair to this mechanical problem. We're thankful you made it safely to CA. May your trip schedule continue as planned...
Love to all, Carol and Terry
